Nine days ago we announced that we were initiating development of Orion V2. Today, V2 is live on the App Store — shipped across two updates, Orion 2.0 and Orion 2.1. It is our biggest release yet, and everything still runs entirely on your device.
Orion 2.0 — Orion Agent
Orion Agent (part of Orion+) is built for harder problems. A new model selector at the top of the chat lets you switch between Orion and Orion Agent at any time. With the new effort slider you choose how deeply it reasons — from instant answers to multi-pass thinking — and you can watch its thoughts unfold as it works. Answers arrive beautifully formatted, with code blocks and tables, all generated locally on your iPhone.
Orion 2.0 — AI Roleplay
AI Roleplay is free for everyone. Chat with built-in characters like the Knight, the Wizard, the Detective, and travelers Yuki and Ren — or create your own character with a custom picture, name, and personality. Your first custom character is included; go unlimited with Orion+. Replies come to life with styled actions and dialogue, delivering on the AI OS direction we set for V2.
Orion 2.0 also made every conversation smarter and smoother: chats now remember as much of your conversation as your device's model allows, and you can edit messages and regenerate responses across the app — plus dozens of refinements and fixes throughout.
Orion 2.1 — Orion Lite & Memory & Stage
Two days after 2.0, we shipped Orion 2.1 with Orion Lite: a tiny, instant companion that steps in automatically when your device doesn't have enough free memory for the full Orion model — so chat always works. You can also switch between Orion and Orion Lite anytime from the menu at the top.
AI Roleplay got a big upgrade too with the new Memory & Stage feature: every character now opens your story with a scene you can customize, and remembers the details you want them to keep in mind.
From plan to product in nine days
V2 went from announcement to shipped — twice — in just over a week. Orion Agent is already helping accelerate Orion's own development, closing the loop we set out to build. The pace is compounding, and we are just getting started.
